Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! I spent some time on this bench today, overlooking Lake Susan in Montreat, NC. Had a gorgeous, breathtaking view. Lots to see and listen to. Most of the day was gentle and quiet. Spring is showing in new ways in western NC. The trees are flowering and there is lots of POLLEN! There were signs of new life everywhere; I loved that.
This is the lake that I saw from the bench. In just a few months, this view will have much more color and this pic doesn't do it justice. I also went through Black Mountain, NC briefly (to get to Montreat) and was surprised that most of it was closed, due to it being Easter. I was happy most of the town was closed so everyone could be with loved ones, but I selfishly missed sightseeing some more in Black Mountain.
After taking in the beauty of this place, I was worn out. Didn't have the energy to run, as I had wanted to do, so I just drove back to Charlotte.
Went to my favorite coffeeshop too, and got a much needed traveler mug. I really like the dripolator coffeeshop (is that one word?) in part, because it sells organic, shade grown, fair trade coffee. Local is best, too. :)
Black Mountain is one of the places where I'd like to live someday. Perhaps as a potter! I would love that in so many ways. It's a great day trip if you're anywhere near it, as it's about 20 minutes east of Asheville, NC.
I didn't take many pics in Asheville as I was there earlier in the day--(I need a new camera). There are many reasons why I like Asheville. One is that it is unpredictable as to what you'll see on the sidewalks downtown.... like
A string band playing! A bit tough to see, as this shot was from my car as I was at a traffic light. Asheville is so open and fun! A great place for people who are adventurous.
So, all in all, it was a quiet day. It was kind a solo retreat, with most of the day spent by myself. Hard to tell it is Easter Sunday from these pics, but thankfully, every day is Easter day, so I have more time to be with friends. I had plans earlier, but they fell through, so I think the day turned out good anyway. At the last minute, I almost stayed in Charlotte and went to the studio, but really wanted to worship at a church in Asheville, so off I went. I worshipped at All Souls Cathedral-- and it was beautiful beyond what I could ever say.
Had a good trip; it's great to be back though. I missed being with good friends and being at the wheel too. Thankfully, there's tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow, I have several pieces to glaze as the gas kiln will be loaded tomorrow night. Yunomis coming up! They'll be out Thursday, I think.

Amy, I'm so glad to have found your blog finally! I am slow and a bit tech-challenged. This is wonderful, your photos, your pottery... Wow! Looking forward to looking around some more. Blessings to you!
